Ministry Description
The Evangelism, Special Ministries and Social Action Commission is responsible for promoting the growth and strengthening of churches by planning and promoting evangelism, special ministries and social action. In cooperation with the various congregations, the Commission carries out the following functions:
To help churches develop an understanding of God's Mission that adequately relates the biblical foundations that support this Mission with the realities of a rapidly changing technological society;
To encourage and guide the churches and participate with them in the development and implementation of activities whose main interest is evangelism;
Plan, promote and coordinate evangelistic efforts at the collective level;
Organize conferences and training workshops on methods and techniques of personal, group, institutional and mass evangelism and promote the use of the best means of dissemination for this purpose;
Produce and distribute literature and materials that facilitate the most effective realization of the evangelistic task;
Promote the establishment of new churches, in cooperation with already established congregations, until they are organized and affiliated with the Baptist Churches of Puerto Rico. This function must be carried out in coordination with the Planning and Development Commission and the Pastoral and Ordination Relations Commission;
Design and prepare, in harmony with the affected churches, strategies to revitalize or relocate them. Relocation, if necessary, should be done in coordination with the Planning and Development Commission.
Identify groups in our society that have special needs and require specialized ministries and guide churches as to how best to minister to these groups;
Encourage churches to identify problems in the physical and social environment that affect the integral development of the individual and the community, and to become involved in solving them.
Promote projects to assist people with needs due to age, economic and social incapacity, family relationships and health problems.
